From a Markdown draft to a shareable PDF

Use a phone-sized page for reading on the go, A5 for a booklet, or A4 for a report. Text size, spacing and page layout are chosen after import. Code indentation and blank lines are preserved, and tables can continue across PDF pages.

Include images with a ZIP

Keep the same folder structure as your Markdown image links. For example, ![Diagram](images/diagram.png) in 01-introduction.md should point to images/diagram.png inside the ZIP.

my-book.zip
├── 01-introduction.md
├── 02-next-chapter.md
└── images/
    └── diagram.png

PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, BMP and TIFF images are accepted; animated images use their first frame. Remote image URLs are not downloaded. Missing or unsupported images produce a warning. ZIPs are limited to 500 entries and 100 MB after decompression; combined Markdown text is limited to one million characters.

Set a title and author

Add YAML front matter at the start of your file. For a collection, the first Markdown file supplies the book metadata. You can change the book title before exporting.

A useful detail.[^source]

[^source]: A note explaining the detail.

Supported Markdown and current limits

Headings, paragraphs, lists, block quotes, tables and fenced code blocks are imported into the reading layout. Footnotes become numbered notes at the end of each source document, rather than page-bottom footnotes. Code uses a monospace font and light shading; it is not syntax-highlighted.

Math formulas, Mermaid diagrams and Obsidian [[wikilinks]] are not specially rendered. Standard link labels are retained, but clickable links and inline styling are not guaranteed. This is a reading layout, so it does not reproduce a GitHub or Obsidian theme.

Need an ebook instead?

Convert Markdown to EPUB for adjustable text on an e-reader. Each completed book also includes editable Word. See pricing and allowances or the conversion guide.
